"A cat's rage is beautiful, burning with pure cat flame, all its hair standing up and crackling blue sparks, eyes blazing and sputtering." -William S. Burroughs
William S. Burroughs
William S. Burrough's quotation means that rage can be depicted as something beautiful. The energy out of rage can be fascinating yet can be scary all at once. Rage is strong and powerful. Mr.Burrough is basically describing how he sees, whether it's his own cat or not, a cat when it is really mad. He sees the cats reaction as something of fantastical mystery. Lets take a dragon for instance. Dragon's are scary, brutal, beautiful, powerful creatures that almost everyone is mistified by. Their firey rage is mystical, scary yet fascinating. When you see a picture of a raging dragon you just can't seem to take your eyes away.
A dragon's rage is fascinating. You never want to experience it of course because you would most likely never live to tell the tale but its something thats beautifully intimidating. The significance of this quotation is that rage isn't always such a bad thing. Of course the outcome can be, but sometimes it can be remarkable like the picture of the dragon above.
Mr.Burrough seems to notice the beauty and power in rage, not the destruction. Is he implying that rage can be seen from a peaceful perspective? The context of this quotation is basically that frightening, powerful, strong feelings, emotions and appearances can be admirable if looked at close enough. Its to give you a sense that things aren't as they appear and you should look deeper then what the naked eye can see with.

Consider including a comment about the author as well - what does he know of rage? What is the context of this quotation?
